MCHS Men's Water Polo Alumni Student-Athlete Scholarship!

As some already know, the Mira Costa Men's Water Polo Alumni Association is made up of former players who are passionate about the past, present, and future water polo programs at Mira Costa. Many of us played at the NCAA Division 1 collegiate level and know what it takes to be a successful student-athlete. We know the coaches who run the programs your sons want to play for and how to navigate the competitive job market when they graduate. We are a resource to ensure the tradition of Mira Costa Water Polo carries on and that we pay it forward for the next generation of Boys Water Polo student-athletes to come through our program.

In this regard, the Mira Costa Men's Water Polo Alumni Association is pleased to announce the MCHS Men's Water Polo Student-Athlete scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior on the MCHS Men’s Water Polo Team for their outstanding leadership and achievement in the pool, in the classroom, and in the community. The Varsity squad defeated the Alumni 9-8, with goalie Garret Allen scoring the winning goal.

The Alumni came ready to play and soundly defeated this years squad. Maybe Coach Dave's advice to the boys, to "eat a big breakfast", was just sabotage? Shenanigans aside, everyone had a great time and we look forward to next years game. 

 

Alumni Game 2016
 

Thanks to all the Mustang Alumni who made it out for the 2016 Alumni Game. This years edition ended in a tie, with our own Coach Dave camping out inside the 2 meter line, he received a brilliant pass from Chris Pawlik, and scored a last second goal to tie it up as the clock ticked down. A fun time was had by all and we look forward to next year's game. Thanks to Chris Pawlik and Taylor Turney for helping make this happen.

Alumni Game 2014

On Friday, August 22, 2014, the Mustang Varsity ended the week on a fun note by participating in the 2nd Annual Mira Costa Alumni vs Varsity water polo game that was organized by Mustang Alumnus, Taylor Turney, and the Mira Costa Coaches and Aquatics Board. Over 25 Mustang Alumni showed up to play the powerful Mustang Varsity squad. Several of the Alumni players played at the NCAA DI level and it was evident in how competitive the game was played. After several lead changes through the first 3 periods, the Alumni squad eventually pulled away with a competitive win. The highlight of the event were the four members from the MCHS Class of 1961!  GO Mustangs!

On Saturday, November 12, 2013, the Mustang Varsity ended the week on fun note by participating in the renewed Mira Costa Alumni vs Varsity water polo game that was organized by Mustang Alumnus, Taylor Turney, and the Mira Costa Coaches and Aquatics Board. Over 22 Mustang Alumni showed up to play the powerful Mustang Varsity squad. Several of the Alumni players played at the NCAA DI level and it was evident in how competitive the game was played. After 4 lead changes and spirited play, the game ended fittingly knotted at 6-6.
